The different nature of the far past probably was such that most life on earth including man could not leave fossilized remains. That would be a good reason we do not find man and most birds and animals early in the fossil record.

"Probably?"

Why?

From dust we came and at that time apparently to dust we returned...not to fossils! In the former nature, there may have been a lot more little specialized creatures for disposal of animal bodies and man's. Today for example we have the snotworm that specializes in some whale remains disposal. Bottom line is we do not know how things were in the different nature/laws of the past because we live in the present nature and only know how this one works.

Some clues genetics were different were the long life spans and fast growing trees in the bible. One clue that man and most animals in the different state of the past could not leave remains is that there are no remains from us! We were here, that is known from the bible.
