I have to warn that although Sundar was utterly sound in his faith some of his beliefs were unorthodox and not accepted by western evangelicals. Some I actually believe relating to the life hereafter and may not be so unbiblical as they first appear.
*
Sundar had three hours earlier burned the bible in a rage, now in the early hour moonlight he went out into his courtyard and bathed in the moonlight according to the hindu/Seikh tradition in preparation for prayer.
Re-entering his room and bowed himself to the ground, he had vowed to God that if He did not reveal Himself then he was going to throw himself upon the railway line in front of the Ludhiana mail train which was soon to arrive.

The vision that appeared before him as he lifted up his eyes shocked him and changed his life forever.

Here is a poem I wrote inspired by him.

The Camaraderie
*
Canary fly over the chimney pot
the dowdy sparrows give chase
so pretty a hen with jersey bright
will never meet their case
blaze fire blaze, a fire not made with logs,
ointment thoughts and wisdom
catched in willing ears to listen
words that will burn though winsome
in hearts that long to love
Young man bow down in the moonlight
in the distance but nearing an iron weight
is approaching with speed and might
*
Oh show me Your face Lord
show me Your face
and then strengthen my legs
that I might stand in this awesome place
Show me Your face Lord
show me your face
let Your light shine upon me
before I must leave this place.
*
Black charcoal black
you will ever be black
though water run upon you
still any brightness lack
black charcoal black
I do not desire you so
luminous red my companion be
my candle will make you glow.
Tell me where the wind blows,
you hear him singing in the trees
show me where his journey ends
refreshing, he comes as he please
*
Oh show me Your face Lord
show me Your face
then strengthen my legs
that I might stand in this awesome place
Show me Your face Lord
ah! show me Your face
let Your light shine upon me
before I must leave this place.
