Assuming Jesus is who he says he is: How is having a faith-relationship with Jesus evil? [Edited for complex question fallacy.]

It can't be, since Jesus is God, God is good. God is life. God is the source of everything. He is the source of our very being. The entire point of our existence and our life journey is to learn to love God and oneanother and hopefully be with Him for eternity and help as many others towards the same goal.

It looks that way to the atheists because they stereotype all religion into one category. Which by the way, the worst is always used.

Question: Ever seen an atheist actually give a complement to what Christians do to help the needy and feed the poor?

1st John 4 as possible context for relationship with God. There are other verses that promote relationship with God.
