What about the theology of Rob Bell and the emergent church?

The guy complaining about the Bullhorn. :(

He says some intriguing stuff but sometimes you wonder what rock he came out from under. Here is a full section of his multi-part nooma series:

Some people have accused him of preaching universal salvation, I haven't really seen this taught, and I will say that his teaching style is definitely effected by the post modern relative culture around us but I would still accept him as a brother in Christ.

What do you think? Is he a wolf in sheep's clothing or a young brother in Christ who may still need to grow?

Based on this viewing, all I hear is generalizations. He said a lot of words, but didn’t really say much of substance, so it would be easy to interpret what ever you wanted from this slickly produced piece.

I hope the OP doesn't think this is off topic. As far as the purpose of the Gospel I would say Rob Bell and Ray Comfort are good case studies because they clearly disagree on what this is...

I'm starting to have a growing concern, myself, for people who use great swelling words that are so ambiguous that everyone can make their own meanings, especially since this is the stock and trade of false prophets.

I'm intentionally not embedding the following video so you have to work for it:

I think this guy is either a joking scoffer trying to make Christians look bad or a really confused person.

I was thinking today that it might be interesting to hear how people go about evangelism.
I may be thinking about, and talking about something different than other people.
It might be interesting to find out what tools or methods people use, how they prepare, who do they target (i.e. jews first, then others next)?, how people approach others, how they respond to people who are not interested or people who are comfortable with "good works" to please God etc.
I am a deep thinker, and sometimes find it hard to put my thoughts into words, or skip what I consider basics in conversation that others might not consider basics.

Keep up the good posts.
Chip

If you listen closely to Rob Bell (in this clip), you’ll notice that he never gives the whole story. When he vaguely mentions John 8:3 through 11, he conveniently omits “Go, and sin no more.” He only talks about the part he agrees with. He also doesn’t seem to realize that in condemning the judgmental demeanor of “Bull-Horn Man”, Rob is being every bit as judgmental.

I have to say that I would respond much better to Dr. Reason.
