Usually I am not offended at images, jokes and stuff...I just brush it off....but I think they take things to far. Are these offensive to you or are you aware of these?

there is a video of Jesus nailed to the cross he was weak and obviously in pain the camera comes closer and closer to his head until it was zoomed right into the crown of thorns. The words "Got a Headache?" came up on the screen....

Not being Christian, these don't offend me personally. I just don't think they're funny. I think it's perfectly reasonable for you to take offence as they mock something you hold dear.

Apart from the bus advertising campaign. There is no reason for anyone to be offended by this.

Interestingly, in the phrasing of the slogan the use of the word 'probably' was done specifically so as not to offend any religious groups. We had a thread on this a while back...

Hi Tico,

To belittle/trivialise and make fun of Jesus Christ the Son of God, when He gave His life for us that we might live, is probably a most unwise position to take. Certainly, one cannot be sure that God does not exist, so it is also a very STUPID thing to do.

The bible says:

"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap" (Galatians 6:7)..

I think even if I leaned towards doubting God, I would hope that I would have enough sense and hopefully enough respect, to consider not only the possibility and even likelihood that my doubts might be proven wrong, but the fact that this is most disrespectful and offensive to believers . The consequences of mocking a God that one cannot be certain does NOT exist is sheer and utter stupidity.

Does God have a sense of humour? Yes. You only have to look around ;) And certainly, the fact human beings have one is reflective of our Creator. But there is a big difference between humour and distasteful mockery, especially of a suffering Christ. Which I find deplorable.

But what hurts God more I wonder? The mockery from atheists? (those who don't know Him). Or the indifference and luke warmness from many Christians? And I could include myself in that plenty of times.

It reminds me very much of what Christ endured at the time of His torture/ mockery and later crucifixion at the hands of human beings. And let us not forget the jeering mockery and hate from the crowd.

"For dogs have compassed me; the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet."

Why should it be any different now? He is still mocked, He is still hated.

"If the World Hates You, Remember, It hated me first." (John 15:18)

Who is often referred to as the prince or god of this world? Satan. So should it be so surprising?

2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of unbelievers, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine unto them.

I'd like to end this message here in light of what I've seen and remind us of what Jesus said on the cross, even in his unspeakable sufferings and the ongoing jeers, mockery and hate from the crowd - still His love and His mercy prevailed:

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. (Luke 23:34)

Yes there are. Body fluids and excrement is another favourite of those offending God's image. And I'm sure most know about the Virgin in a c*ndom and of course certain cartoons who have poked fun also.

Christ is the focus of so much hate, indifference and mockery. Yet Christ on the cross is a pure depiction of total sacrifice, suffering, love and mercy. It's ironic that the very people who do this are a part of the human race that He died for.
