There is a difference between spanking and beating...

"You don't spank children today," said Longoria, "in the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don't spank children. You understand?" She replied with a simple, "Yes, Sir." She is attending parenting classes and working with CPS to regain custody of her children"

I thought judges weren't supposed to create laws...

Thinking about Proverbs 1:7

What can we do about this?

In the context of people in society over 18 --Are some people opposed to punishment for crimes?
What are your thoughts?

But that is what Solomon (under Holy Spirit inspiration) taught us in Proverbs. Corporeal punishment for wrongdoing. If it is done properly with restraint and love it usually produces the effect God wants: a child that will obey parents and will later obey God.
