no, you can teach them the story of how he came and why and also you dont have to celebrate this as well as you know its not in the bible. the christmas trees and also pagan side of has absolutely nothing to do with the account. focus on that and you will do find.

The thing is, Jesus never said to celebrate His birth. But the angels did. And we can celebrate also as long as we remember who it's for and not what we get. Showing your kids a birth of Christ video every year to remind them is a good idea.

I know what is important to me in the message of Christmas. It is that when he was born, he was Christ the Lord. Already. :)
